Company Overview

Kenny Kuhns grew up on a dairy farm in central Illinois in the days before round balers and large square balers were common in America.

Growing up, he stacked many bales of hay onto wagons and into barns. At a very young age he acquired the passion to get beautiful hay in the barn before the rain hit. In his move from Illinois to Ohio, Kenny realized the need for more reliable small square bale equipment. Inconsistent and quick-changing weather made it a necessity to have a more efficient method for pick-up, transportation, and storage of small bales. Kenny’s experience and testimony from others made him think there had to be a better way to bale small squares. He wanted something simpler than the hydraulic and electronic assisted accumulators, yet he did not want a machine that drug the bales across the ground.

In the summer of 2002 he began building an accumulator that would arrange the bales into groups by using an incline, gates, and gravity. He presented the concept to a few manufactures but they were focused on other products. Two patents and over 10 years later he is thankful they were.

Kuhns Mfg has made changes over the years to achieve a better end product. Yet, the simple incline design has always stayed the same. Kenny’s memories of hay being rained on because of equipment failure still drive the design, quality, and service at Kuhns Mfg today.

“Being a one-person haymaking operation, the Kuhns bale accumulator system has enabled me to more than triple my cash in square bale production. Before I purchased my Kuhns, I was ready to stop all square baling due to labor requirements. I can basically fill my barn and seldom ever touch a bale by hand. The system is simple, reliable, and low cost compared to other brands on the market. The Tie-Grabber completes the system nicely as it saves valuable time when loading, hauling, and unloading trailers. I would have no hesitation in recommending this system to anyone who is looking to increase their productivity and profit with less labor required.

“I am very pleased with the equipment.  It has made my haying operation a true one person operation that has allowed me to expand.  As a full time firefighter that works an odd rotating schedule, finding help is not always easy and the use of your equipment has made my life much easier as well much more enjoyable.”

“When we brought our Kuhns 1036F home we were missing a few parts that I didn’t know about. When I learned about this I had already cut down some hay and was going to bale it the next day. After talking to the guys at Kuhns they overnight mailed the parts at their expense to my house. I installed them and was ready to bale that afternoon.”

“I would sincerely like to convey just how pleased we are with the outstanding customer service and support we have so far received from Kuhns Mfg. From the inception, your employee John Byler was extremely knowledgeable and has guided us in our decision-making process. Earlier this week, and going above and beyond, John delivered the Telehandler bracket at the late hour of approx. 10 pm and did not leave until all very minor adjustments were made with regards to a successful installation. This bracket with your involvement was manufactured to exact specifications to fit our JLG G6 unit, no small feat, was successfully accomplished. Please extend our gratitude to all members of your extended team who made this effort a complete success. We look forward to implementing this new system of operation in our business and would expect no less support in the future from Kuhns Mfg.”

“I wanted to let you know that we were able to bale and stack 810 squares in the barn on Saturday. The new Tie-Grabber performed without a hitch and it is a fantastic piece of equipment. Thank you so much for sticking with it and getting it to me in time for the August cutting.”
